Me and my work:
I am a 37 year old working professional, finding my way through life as a dedicated brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioner. I grew up in Oklahoma and Texas and began my career traveling throughout Asia and teaching in Beijing. Later, I moved back to the states for law school, paving my way as a transactional attorney at a Silicon Valley tech company.
Me finding BJJ:
The management of stress and daily challenges as an attorney and in my daily life was made possible only through the art of BJJ. I initially came into BJJ through the coercion of another (bf bought me a gi for Christmas 2013); however, this quickly became my passion and daily obsession. My background is in dance, but like many others…I assumed I “aged-out” of dance or any other high level sport. Thankfully, I was wrong. BJJ changed my life. Period.
Me and my lifestyle aspirations:
I am not particularly special; however, I aspire to be better each time I step onto the mats and more importantly, to be a better training partner for my teammates. Starting BJJ at 30 years old, I was grossly out of shape and lacked any kind of work/life balance. Now, I find myself striving daily to be active and healthy in both a physical and mental capacity. While I started because of someone else, I stayed for myself.
